Bringing Racing Back to Raton
This annual race was established in 2020 and sports a new track design every year. Raton is on the border of northeastern New Mexico and southeastern Colorado, and is in a great corridor with easy access from Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Colorado, right off the I-25 highway. Our venue offers a large area for racers to camp. Gates open for racers to arrive Friday with race sign ups and practice races. Saturday morning starts with sign ups, breakfast, and practice races leading into qualifying races. We bring in local food vendors and invite a local community group to run our concession stand for a fundraiser. We invite pro riders to compete for our pro purse and have always had a turnout giving our spectators a good show without the price tag of the championship races.
Our Main Events start Saturday afternoon with an intermission of fun races for entertainment including strider bikes, pit bikes, and more.
Raton was the first sight for horse racing in New Mexico and we are proud to bring racing back to the area. Colfax County offers additional family fun with outdoor recreational activities to explore like Capulin Volcano, Sugarite Canyon State Park, Vermejo Ranch Park, the NRA Whittington Center, Philmont Scout Ranch, and so much more.
